Donald Richard “Don” Cox

Donald Richard “Don” Cox, 78, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Wayne UNC Healthcare surrounded by his family. Born in Duluth, Minnesota on January 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Clarence and Erna M. Cox.

Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Over the years he owned several businesses, most recently J & G Appliance. Don was a former member of Pinewood Fire Department and had also served with the Goldsboro EMS. He was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

Don will be remembered as a fun-loving husband, father, and friend. He was a jokester and was always the life of the party.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Otis E. Hamm officiating. Military honors will conclude the service followed by a time of visitation.

Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Jackson Cox; son, Ritchie Cox and husband Christopher of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Johanna Cox of Goldsboro; and sister, Barbara Jantzen of Katy, TX.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David, Jim, and Ed Cox and sister, Arlene Stiller.
