January 2, 76, 
David Earl Gurley, 76, died suddenly on January 2, 2020 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
David was born in Wayne County on March 4, 1943 to the late John David Gurley and Pauline Johnson Gurley. He had retired from Americal in Goldsboro. David loved fishing, piddling, but most of all his family.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 6, 2020 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate David’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at 11:00- a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
David is survived by his daughter, Cindy Wright and husband Scott of Hambleton, WV; daughter, Diane Simmons and her family of Grantham; granddaughter, Jennifer Bush and husband, Mike; great-grandson, Tyler Bush; brothers, Ralph Gurley of Goldsboro and Ronnie Gurley and wife Pat of Pikeville; sister, Lou Sasser of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his step-children, Bonnie Hill and Joe Strickland and their families.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rob, Walt, Wayne and Ken Gurley; and sisters, Gladys Grimes and Alma Newsome.
