January 1, 70, Goldsboro
Shirley Jean Worrell, 70, resident of Goldsboro and formerly of the Seven Springs area, passed into the arms of Jesus early New Year’s Day,2020.
She had been employed for 35 1/2 years with Ryder Transportation in various capacities.
Her retirement years were spent caring for others, especially her late mother, Mary Jane Hardebeck; mother-in-law, Florence P. Tucker; and a special aunt and uncle, Richard and Louise Dunmire.
Mrs. Worrell worshiped her Lord with the good, loving people at Mount Olive First Pentecostal Holiness Church, and it there that funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, at 2 p.m. Pastor Jeff Dail will officiate, with burial to follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church during the hour before the service. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to the church at 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
Surviving her are her husband, Jonathan C. “Buddy” Worrell; a son, Don Williams of New Bern; a daughter, Tina Patrick of Vanceboro; a stepson, John Allan Worrell of Dudley; grandchildren, Phillip Williams, Crystal Williford and husband, Scott, Kasey Worrell, and Ivey Worrell; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Toler of Raleigh; a brother, Virgil Tucker and wife, Margie, of Belhaven; and a special niece, Laurel Toler of Raleigh.
Mrs. Worrell enjoyed spending time with her family and always found a way to be at ballgames in which grandchildren and great-grandchildren were playing. She will be missed.
