Mary Teachey Smith, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, December 26, 2019, at Wayne UNC Health Care in Goldsboro.
Mary was born in Wayne County on March 9, 1934 to the late Leon Teachey and Naomi Gurley Teachey. She was married for 47 years to the late Marvin Smith, Sr. Mary was retired from Wayne County Public Schools and will be remembered as a devout Christian and a loving mother and grandmother.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Mary’s life at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mary is survived by her children, Dianne Langston and husband Winford, Linda Rich and husband Donald, Marvin Smith Jr. and wife Renee; grandchildren, Dana Best, Nick Mackey, Wendy Cox, Mary Rouse, Marlie Jacobs and Macy Smith; twelve great-grandchildren and her brother, Leon Teachey, Jr. and wife Gail.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her sisters, Leatha Lewis and Fennettie Rouse; and brothers, James Teachey, Melvin Teachey and Manfred Teachey.
