James E “Jimmy” Bishop

James E “Jimmy” Bishop passed away into the arms of his loving Savior on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born on November 17, 1939 in Turlock, California to the late Zeno and Ruby Bishop. He graduated from Turlock High School in 1957, after which he served in the United States Air Force. Jimmy was a truck driver for twenty years with Spector Redball. In 1984, he started working for Ann Bishop Insurance as an associate agent where he worked until his retirement on March 31, 2019. Jimmy co-owned and operated Borders and Curbs. He was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Ann Bishop; his son Steve Bishop of Goldsboro, daughter Kim Bishop of Goldsboro and daughter Kristy McClure and husband Darin of Raleigh. He is also survived by four grandchildren: Courtney Bishop of Goldsboro and Camryn, Lauren and Marshall McClure of Raleigh. Also left to cherish his memory are siblings Ruth Walner and Marvin Bishop both of Turlock, California. Jimmy also leaves his buddy, Ben-Ben.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by siblings: Calvin Kelly, Florence Hess, Lela Dow and Donna Atchison.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Jimmy’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Glenn Smith officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Radford Family Cemetery, 3472 Nahunta Road, Pikeville.
