William Ruben Browder, 84, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2019 at home surrounded by his family.

Ruben was born in Greene County on March 1, 1935 to the late Walter and Rena Browder. He retired from DuPont after 26 ½ years of service and later worked with the Wayne County recycle center. Ruben was a member of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church.

A service to celebrate Ruben’s life will be held Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church with Rev. Barry Teague and Rev. Michael Hamm officiating. The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall one hour prior to and immediately following the service and other times at his home. Interment will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange

Ruben is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Ann Gurley Browder; sons, Donnie Browder and wife Nell of Atlantic Beach and Todd Browder and wife Deborah of Winterville; daughter, Dawn Edmundson and husband Lee of Stantonsburg; sisters, Zulene Wooten of Morehead City, Emma “Lady’ Brogden of Goldsboro, Carol Aycock and husband Alvin of LaGrange, Luvoise “ Puddin “ Hill and husband George of LaGrange; and grandchildren, Rachel Anderson and husband Michael, Whitley Browder, Kendyl Browder, Austin Edmundson, Sydney Edmundson, Keaton Browder and Hayden Edmundson and a great grandchild, Ava Gray Browder.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Browder.
