Laura Hill Price, 48, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019. Laura was born March 7, 1971 in Wayne County to the late James Edward Hill and Mary Elizabeth Gurley Hill.
A true blue Carolina Tarheel, Laura lived for basketball season. Nothing got in the way of watching her beloved Heels on the court. A Carolina win made everything just right in her world. Falls were spent rooting for the Carolina Panthers. Spring brought baseball season and the opportunity to cheer on the Atlanta Braves.
Creative in the kitchen, Laura loved cooking for her family. Many great times were had around her table. Learning from her mother, no one fixed a better pineapple cake or sweet potato pie. Her daughter, Lizzy, savored her homemade spaghetti and all looked forward to her award winning chilli.
Always artsy, Laura was gifted at drawing and painting. She had a special touch when it came to arranging flowers and decorating her home. Her talents extended into music as well. It was not uncommon to hear Laura belting out the lyrics to her favorite Dixie Chicks songs. One of her favorite pastimes was singing karaoke.
Laura had a heart for the underdog. She was willing and quick to help those in need. During her career at Eastern Correctional Institution, Laura advocated for those who were overlooked and in need of a helping hand.
A service to celebrate and remember Laura’s life will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 at 6 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange. A time of visitation and fellowship will follow the memorial service.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Price; husband, Ray Price; sister, Tory Hill Pruitt and husband, Graham; her good friend and companion, Stephen Parks; niece, Mary Beth Pruitt Allen and husband, Ross; and her beloved cat, Bobo.
