Dawn Dunton Merritt, 57, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dawn was born in England on September 29, 1962 to Sheila C. Gurganious and the late Joey Dunton. She worked as a professional sales associate with Rick Hendrick Toyota of Fayetteville. Her most significant role in life and what she did best was being a loving mother and grandmother to her family.
A service to celebrate Dawn’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Mitchell officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Dawn is survived by her daughter, Erica Nicole Williams and husband John of Goldsboro; son, Kyle Merritt and girlfriend Amber Edwards of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Jaiden Strickland and Tyler Williams; brothers, Laban Dunton and Daniel Gurganious and wife Kristina; and niece, Kaitlynn Gurganious. She is also survived by her furry grandchildren, Bella, Harlow, Otis and Damon.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beth Gurganious Weaver.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Dawn’s memory to the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, 20 Duke Medicine Circle, Durham, NC 27710.
