Michael Andrew Keathley, age 70, passed away Tuesday evening, October 22, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. He was a resident of the Scott’s Store community, Mount Olive.
Known to most as Andy, he was raised on Keathley Hill near Albertson. He graduated from East Duplin High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University. Andy was employed as a truck driver for most of his working career, and he also was an agri-businessman, overseeing the operation of the family’s farms.
Andy is survived by his wife, Melba Etheridge Keathley, of the home; their three children, Mark Keathley and his wife, Jennifer Goodwin, of Spokane, Washington, Maureen Keathley of Mount Olive, and Alan Keathley of Wilmington; a sister, Victoria “Vicky” Keathley of Winterville; and a brother, Jonathan “Johnny” Keathley and his husband, Marc-Andre Bedard of LacBeauport, Quebec, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Keathley and Magdaline Alphin Keathley; and a brother, Lewis Keathley, Jr.
Andy will be laid to rest in the Keathley Family Cemetery following a private graveside and interment service. The Keathley family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 27, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. in Baker Fellowship Hall at Mount Olive Presbyterian Church, corner of North Breazeale Ave. and West Main Street, Mount Olive.
