Sadie Christine Whitfield

Miss Sadie Christine Whitfield, 88, passed away early Thursday morning, August 8, 2019 at the Brian Center in Goldsboro. She was a long-time Goldsboro resident and had resided on Park Avenue-A.

Miss Whitfield was retired from the City of Goldsboro where she had been the long time city clerk. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was involved in various other historical societies.

Preceded in death by her parents, Grangier and Georgia Mozingo Whitfield; two brothers, Edward Morris Whitfield and James Leon Whitfield; and a niece, Marlene Whitfield.

Loved ones surviving her include two nephews, Kyle Whitfield of Seven Springs and Ronnie Whitfield of Pink Hill; a niece, Gayla Whitfield of Massachusetts; several great-nieces and great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; and a great-great-nephew.

Her life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Monday, August 12, at 11 a.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive. Presiding will be the Rev. Robert ‘Bob’ Bardin. The family will greet friends at the cemetery at the conclusion of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 East Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The Whitfield family wishes to express a special thanks to the Brian Center administration, nursing staff, and caregiving staff for their untiring love and care shown to Miss Whitfield during her stay with them. They also express a heartfelt thanks to the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro for commitment in visits and proving outside support.
