Stanley Russell Holmes, 69, of the Brock’s Chapel section near Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 19, at Vidant Duplin Hospital.
Russell was retired from the United States Air Force, and was also a retired airlines logistics manager.
He is survived by a son, Kevin Holmes, a daughter, Michelle Holmes, and a granddaughter, Savannah Michelle Holmes, all of Mount Olive; three sisters, Linda H. Gruebel, Cathy H. Graham, and Rose H. Hudson and husband, Joe, all of Mount Olive; five brothers, Joe Holmes and wife, Joyce, of Mount Olive, Jackie Holmes of Dudley, Mike Holmes and wife, Joyce, of Calypso, Ricky Holmes, and Steve Holmes, both of Mount Olive; a sister-in-law, Florence Holmes of Ellaville, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Russell “Sonny” and Clara Bell Brock Holmes; an infant brother, Dennis Lee Holmes; and a brother, James Wade Holmes.
