Maggie H. Hood, 96, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 15, 2019 surrounded by her family.
Maggie was born in Wayne County on July 16, 1922 to the late Bill and Gertrude Grantham Hood. She was a member of Selah Christian Church. Maggie was a farm girl at heart and lived a full life as a wonderful mother and homemaker. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served them well. Maggie will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall at Selah Christian Church from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 followed by a service to celebrate Maggie’s life at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Patrick Muston officiating. Interment will be in Falling Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Maggie is survived by her husband of almost 79 years, James I. Hood; children, Trudy Hinson, Jimmy Hood and wife Rita, Grover Hood and wife Teresa, Linda Overton and husband Daryll, and Glenn Hood and wife Betsy; twelve grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Hood and sisters, Gertrude Partin, Dessie Kornegay and Jessie Littleton.
Special thanks to Community Home Care and Hospice as well as to the caregivers who cared for Maggie and her family in so many kind and thoughtful ways through these recent months and during this time of loss.
