Kenneth Allen “Shorty” Hales, Sr

Kenneth Allen “Shorty” Hales, Sr., age 73, passed away Tuesday at his residence. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Clifton and Gertrude Evans Hales and the brother of the late Ed Hales. Kenneth was a member of Eureka Christian Church and a Veteran of the National Guard.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm in the Shumate Memorial Chapel with Rev. Frank Purvis officiating. Family members will greet friends Wednesday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. A private entombment service for the family will be held at Wayne Memorial Park.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Linda Britt Hales; a son, Kenneth Allen Hales, Jr. and his wife, Donnarie; daughters, Karen Hales Kennedy and husband, Glenn, Jr., Jan Hales Bradley and husband, Jeff; brothers, Earl Hales and wife, Sarah, Carl Ray Hales, Roy Hales and wife, Marie; sister in law, Kathryn Hales; sisters, Viola King, Sheila Price and husband, Gene, Linda Person and husband, James, Vicky Tilghman and husband, Elton, Christine Goetze and husband, Fred; grandchildren, Kelsey Rae Kennedy, Morgan Grace Kennedy, Reagan Kinley Hales, Benton Allen Hales, Keaton Nicole Bradley, Alexander Britt Bradley; brothers in law and sisters in law, Eddis Earl Britt and wife, Wilma, Lela Sutton and husband, Joe, Betty Smith, Mary Wilson and husband, Jimmy; and twenty nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Eureka Christian Church, 2036 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365; or to the Parkinson’s Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
