Faye Watson Harrell, 83, Mount Olive resident, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2019.
Born in Catawba County, her parents were the late Foy S. Watson and Etta Mae Harris Watson. She was also the sister of the late Ruby Holland, Betty Jean Ard, Roy Watson, Carl Watson, Foy Watson, Jr., and J. B. Watson.
Mrs. Harrell is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Hopkins Harrell, Sr.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rene’ H. and David Walker of Tennessee, and Kelly H. and Michael Helms of Goldsboro; a son, Charles H. Harrell, Jr. of California; a brother, Eddie Watson and wife, Frances, of Asheville; six grandchildren, Christian Walker and wife, Carmen, Bryan Walker and wife, Bethany, Dara Ferrell and husband, Aaron, Logan Ford and husband, Chris, Sydney Hand, and Charles H. Harrell III; and two great-grandchildren, Bingham Walker and Bayla Walker.
Mrs. Harrell was a retired school teacher with 36 years of combined service with Wayne Country Day School and Wayne County Schools. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority.
A woman of great faith, she accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She demonstrated an unshakable faith and totally believed in Jesus the Christ and lived an exemplary life in accordance to Biblical teachings.
She was a beautiful lady both inside and out. Her personality and beauty were just as pretty, making her both elegant and stunning. One who enjoyed travel, she had the pleasure of many trips, several of which were abroad, to explore God’s beautiful earth. She also enjoyed trips to the coastal area. To her, family was everything. She was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and by her actions, one could know she loved her family with her total being.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 9, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Mount Olive, followed by burial in Maplewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, and at other times at the residence. Flowers are welcome, or memorial gifts may be made to the Faye W.
