Carole Medlin Sears, 81, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Wayne UNC Healthcare.
Carole was born in Hamlet, North Carolina on April 7, 1937, to the late Frank and Ruby Medlin. She had worked for many years as a Registered Nurse and had served in various capacities with the North Carolina General Federation of Women’s Clubs. Carole loved St. Mary Catholic Parish in Goldsboro and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life. She was currently serving as the liturgy coordinator for the church. Carole had a large extended circle of family and friends and they were all very special to her. She will be missed, but greatly remembered.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Mary Catholic Parish with a rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m. and visitation immediately following the rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at St. Mary Catholic Parish with Rev. Roch T. Drozdzik presiding. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Carole is survived by her sons, Joseph Sears (Suzy) and William Sears (Marie); grandchildren, Thorne, William and Delaney Sears; step great-grandchildren, Savannah and David Brand; and her sister, Frankie Medlin Zwirblia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Raymond Edward Sears Jr.; infant son, Charles Michael Sears; brother, John Medlin and sister, Marguerite Thornton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given in Carole’s memory to St. Mary Catholic Parish, 1603 Edgerton Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
