March 23, 55, La Grange

Donald Renay Coker, 55, quietly and peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Donald was born December 28, 1963 in Wayne County to the late Leon Coker and Doris Priscilla Butts Coker.

Attending a car show on the weekend with his brother, Clee, was hard to beat for Donald. They have many good memories of times spent together. Just like most young kids born in the 60’s, Donald grew up playing with “Hot Wheels” die cast cars. This love for all things cars stayed with him forever and recently he could often be found searching the internet for anything “Hot Wheels”.

Always a kid at heart, comic books, arrowheads and baseball cards has always fascinated Donald. The thrill of searching and adding something new to his collection always brought a smile.

During football season, Sunday afternoons were always spent watching his beloved Washington Redskins. Sunday’s were always better when the Skins won.

Donald had a great love for animals and especially those without a home. Without a doubt he was going to rescue a cat in need or make sure the strays were taken care of.

Donald was a longtime employee of Royster-Clark Fertilizer, Princeton.

A graveside service to celebrate Donald’s life will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery.

Donald is survived by four siblings, Clee Coker, Cathy Rhodes, Wendy Rhodes and husband, Mike, Priscilla Frederick and husband, Greg; special friends and caregivers, Libby Killette Shambeau and Jarvis Worrell; along with several special nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by three brothers, Bud Coker, Ronnie Coker and Jerry Coker.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Clee Coker. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Memorials to honor Donald’s life may be made to the Wayne County Humane Society, P.O. Box 821, Goldsboro, NC 27530. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
