Janice Marie Ames, 75, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by family.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, March 02, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Ames was born in Pennsylvania on June 17, 1943 to the late Marvin Moore Caruthers and Thelma Marie Henderson Caruthers.
She is survived by her loving children, John Carter (Carrie) of Peck, KS, Judy Wohler of Haysville, KS; Scott Ames (Sandy) Seminole, Alabama and Bryan Ames (Cecile) St. Louis, Missouri; four sisters, Shirley Mooring of Pikeville, Peggy Holland (Jim) of White Oak, PA, Patricia Matthews (Tony) of Fremont and Ruth Caruthers of Pikeville; ten granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren and her beloved Bichon Frisée… Sophie.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ames was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Gerald Ames and her son, Jay Scott Carter.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request that memorial contributions be made in Jan’s remembrance to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Part Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro.
