January 23, 68,
Milton Larry Hinson, 68, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family.
Larry was born in Wayne County on April 25, 1950 to the late James Floyd Hinson and Cassie Woodard Hinson. He proudly served his community with the Wayne County EMS for 39 years, beginning as a volunteer with the Grantham Rescue Squad and later serving as an EMT and paramedic. Larry was a member of Black Jack Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.
His warmth and generosity were well known and cherished by those he encountered throughout his life. Even in his declining health, he found joy in simple pleasures: visits from family and friends, a North Carolina State win, or almost equal: a loss by the Tar Heels. Above all, Larry enjoyed his trips to the mountains, watching a baseball game or spending time with his grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Larry’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Dennis Pollock, Rev. Pete Radford and Rev. Franklin Lane officiating. The family will also greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home. Interment will be on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Larry is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Lynda Thornton Hinson; sons, Allen Hinson and wife Dana, Michael Hinson and wife Paige, and Nicholas Hinson and wife Lisa; and grandchildren, Reed Stafford, Gavin Hinson, Asher Hinson, Mackenzie Hinson; Briannah Hinson, Gracie Hinson and Kaeden Hinson. He is also survived by his brother, Carlton Hinson and wife Renee.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by the doctors and nurses at SMOC as well as the staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Simple words cannot express our gratitude. Love and heartfelt thanks is also expressed to his EMS friends that helped in so many thoughtful ways.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Black Jack FWB Church, 341 Black Jack Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530 or to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
