Hope Lee Roberts Davis went to be with her Heavenly father early Saturday morning at her home.
Hope was born in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Helen Meade Jessee and Steward Simon Jessee, Jr. who preceded her in death. Her grandparents were the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lee Meade and the late Mr. and Mrs. Steward Simon Jessee, Sr.
She came to Goldsboro with her family in 1952 and became a member of First Baptist Church, at 6 years old, where she took part in many church activities including: choir, Sunday school, GA’s, and Vacation Bible School. She attended there until 2001. Hope now attends The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Hope enjoyed Boy Scouts of America and for many years served as a Cub Scout Den mother and also as the secretary of Troop 11. She worked for Wayne County Schools and retired after 31 years of service. Hope had a great love for the beach and enjoyed many hours of fishing on the pier at Bogue Inlet.
Hope is survived by her husband, Voyad Erastus Davis Jr.; son, William “Bill” Tilley IV and wife Melanie and sister, Judy Jessee. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Melanie Penland and Heather Goodman and husband Jeff; and grandchildren, Lindsey and Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack E. Roberts and William F. Tilley III.
A service to celebrate Hope’s life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Bill Rose and Rev. Michael McAuley officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church. Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Wayne Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given in Hope’s memory to the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 11, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
