Ray Meek Smith, 62, passed away Tuesday afternoon at his home. He was the son of Ruthie Alexander and the late John Meek Smith, and was the husband of Deborah Smith. Ray was retired from the United States Marine Corps. He enjoyed riding his Goldwing motorcycle and gardening.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service. A committal service will be held on Monday at the Eastern Carolina Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 A.M.
In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by his mother, Ruthie Alexander; his son, Adam Smith and his significant other, Jordan Battle of Whiteville, NC; his daughter, Ashley Lukasik and significant other, Chris Dunn of Durham; a grandson, Ethan Lukasik; three brothers, Aven Smith and wife, Pam of Cumming, GA, Mike Kellam and wife, Janet of Grifton, NC, and Mitch Amorginos and wife, Marsha of Jacksonville, FL; three sisters, Teresa Deemer and husband, Brent of Marrero, LA; Mary Ann Davis and husband, Robert of Pinehurst, NC and Kathy Chisholm and husband, Frank of Dallas, TX; a sister in law, Barbara Kellam of Goldsboro; his step-mom, Marilyn Smith of Silver Springs, FL; and his toy poodle, Bella.
In addition to his father, a brother, David Kellam preceded him in death.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans Charitable Veterans Trust.
