Mary Frances Hare Whaley

Mary Frances Hare Whaley, known as “Pee Wee”, at the age of 67, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018 at her home in Magnolia. She was born January 2, 1951 to the late Willie James Hare and Mary Ruth Stroud Hare. She was the youngest of their four children.

Mary is survived by her husband of 30 years, Herbert “Buddy” Whaley; her three children, Sandra Piner of Kenansville, Leroy Sanderson and wife, Malinda Sanderson of Pink Hill, and Jennifer Martinez and husband, Cesar Martinez of Kenansville; three stepchildren, Bert Whaley and wife, Joy Whaley of Rose Hill, Judy Sloan of Kenansville, and Susan Bell and husband, Joe Bell of Kenansville; thirteen grandchildren,Wesley Sanderson, William Piner, Brittney Sanderson, Norma Jean Southerland, Evan Martinez, Christopher Martinez, Bradley Harper, Tyler Sloan, Derick Sloan, Braxton Bell, Reagan Bell, Shana Thompson, Chancey Whaley, four great grandchildren, William Piner, Brantley Moody, Masen Gilbert, and Landon Sanderson; and several step great grandchildren. Also surviving are her three sisters, Margaret Newsome of Goldsboro, Dianna Bufford and husband, Jesse, of Mount Olive, and Gloria Southerland of Warsaw.
She was also the mother of the late Wesley L. Sanderson, Jr. She had been employed at “The Filling Station” in Kenansville prior to her retirement.

Mary was filled with love that she shared with everyone that she met. She was a very spiritual woman and involved in many church activities at Warsaw Pentecostal Holiness Church. Mary truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures, talking with family and friends, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren always kept a smile on her face and warmth in her heart. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, at 2 p.m. from Warsaw Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. James Earl Herring and the Rev. Jerry Wayne Ezzell officiating, followed by burial in Devotional Gardens. Visitation will be during the hour before the service, and at other times at the residence.
