William Dewey “Dee” Johnson, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at his home while surrounded by his family.
Dee was born in the community of Pinkney on April 26, 1927 to his parents, Dewey and Mary Johnson, and where he was currently living with his wife. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of Union Grove Free Will Baptist Church and was instrumental in many aspects of the building and renovations at the church. Dee was a retired member of the Little River Fire Department.
Dee was a true sportsman, most comfortable outdoors. He enjoyed bird hunting and loved walking in the woods and fields with a gun and one of his bird dogs. Dee also played baseball in his early years and always enjoyed watching a good game.
A service to celebrate Dee’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with his pastor, Rev. John Massengill, officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the funeral home. Interment will conclude the service in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
