Barbara Jean Parker Thornton, 75, of Princeton, is in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ, June 9, 2018. She was born November 26, 1942 in Johnston County. She was the daughter of the late, William Carson and Lettie Mae Jackson Parker. She was the wife of Carl Lee Thornton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Bonnie Parker and sister, Joyce Parker Morgan.
Mrs. Thornton had been employed with Sylvania for 18 years, Johnston- Lee-Harnnet Action for 18 years as Family Service Senior Counselor. Barbara served on several boards while being employed at J-L-H Community Action. She was employed with Woodard Drug store for 8 years and retired with Johnston County Senior Services Princeton Dining Center. Barbara was a member of Princeton Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, active with Girl in Action Leader and AWANA Leader.
A Memorial Service will be conducted 7:00 pm Tuesday, June 12th at Princeton Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm until 6:45 pm Tuesday, June 12th at Princeton Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Lee Thornton, stepson; Carl (Pete) Thornton and wife Kathy of Princeton, stepdaughter; Renee Thornton Perry and husband Connie of Princeton, grandchildren; Terrie Boyette, Brandon Thornton, Ashley Hinnant, Chris Perry, Jamie Briscoe, great grandchildren; Ryder, Reece, Paisley, Maddox, Aiden, Fisher Lee, Jaden, Hunter and Hayden, nephew; Jerry Allen and wife Wanda and niece; Kim Saxon and husband Ronnie.
