Jack Henry Holland, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 21, 2018 at his home.
Jack was born in Boston, Georgia on April 15, 1932 to the late Eliza and William Daniel Holland. For 29 years, Jack lived his dream proudly serving his country with the United States Air Force. He will always be remembered for his incredible intelligence, his wonderful sense of humor and his patriotism. Jack’s valor and skill was recognized with numerous decorations. Following his military career, Jack continued to work with the Base Exchange at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and with Electrolux. Jack had been a long-time member of St. Michael Catholic Community and was currently a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church with Father Alex Gonzalez presiding. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Goldsboro with full military honors. The family will gather for a Rosary on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a visitation until 9:00 p.m.
Jack is survived by his wife of 57 years, Maria B. Holland; children, Rietje Holland, Jack D. Holland and Maureen Holland Gresham and husband Walter; grandchildren, Ashley Lynn Holland, Alexandria Maria Salas and Christopher David Salas. He is also survived by his brother, William Daniel Holland and wife Sandra; sister, Judy Lawrence and husband Larry; and brother-in-law, Lincoln Graham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters.
We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Community Home Care and Hospice for the love and care they provided for Jack during his final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude. Also a special thank you to the caregivers with Hospice, Sheree, Judy and Carol.
