On December 15, 1942, Mary Ann Cashwell became a light in God’s eyes. Years later, on May 2, 2018, He shone his light to guide her home. Mary Ann Roberts Padgett passed away peacefully at Vidant Home Health and Hospice in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise Davis and Sylvester Cashwell, her brothers, Rudy Cashwell and Glenn Cashwell, along with her grandson, Billy Roberts and a great grandson, Logan Roberts.
Her love for people lead her to become a hairdresser and she owned her own shop “Mary Ann’s Beauty Cottage” for thirteen years. She also opened Padgett Family Care Home and was the administrator for thirteen more years until her retirement. Mary Ann was a member of First Original Free Will Baptist Church of Warsaw where she served as a Sunday school teacher, and on the Deacon and Ladies Auxiliary Boards.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Ezzell and Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park Mausoleum. Family members will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Charles Padgett; a daughter, Rita R. Hood (Jimmy) of Grantham; sons, William R. Roberts (Sandy) of Faison, Craig Roberts (Lulu) of Dudley; foster children, Glenn Cashwell (Beth) of Warsaw, Tina Taylor (Rodney) of Warsaw, Sylvia Millen (Chris) of Clinton; step daughter, Rene Padgett of Warsaw; step son, Roger Padgett of Mt. Olive; grandchildren, Sammy Roberts, Jordan Hood, Kobi Hood, Tracy Roberts, Hayden Roberts; great grandchildren, Lilah Hood,River Roberts, Zoe Roberts; She had many foster and step grandchildren she adored. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Cashwell (Joyce) of Calypso and Wayne Cashwell (Crystal) of Goldsboro.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at CICU Unit 4th Floor at Vidant Medical Center and the staff at Vidant Home Health and Hospice.
