Edna Davis Baker, age 99, died Wednesday at Wayne UNC Healthcare. She was born in Greene County to the late Rete and Polly Suggs Davis and was married to the late Floyd Parker Baker. A member of Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Church, Mrs. Baker taught the nursery class for 29 years.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 4:00pm at Pleasant Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Dwayne Batten and Rev. Sherman Dilley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends for one hour prior to the funeral.
Mrs. Baker is survived by two sons, Joe W. Baker and wife, Jeanette and Rev. Fred P. Baker and wife, Linda; one daughter, Shirley Carter and husband, Billy; six grandchildren, Joann B. Wall and husband, Jeff, Tammy B. Braswell and husband, Chris, Katrina B. Deans and husband, Derek, Kim B. Bryant and husband, Jim, Stephen P. Baker and wife, Karen, and Carolyn C. Walton and husband, Lee; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
