April 27, 74, Hyde CountyAnn Baum Dudley Grant, died peacefully April 27, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born September 6, 1941 in Lake Landing, Hyde County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of William Swindell Dudley, Jr. and Rachel Marie Baum Dudley.
Mrs. Grant is survived by her husband of 53 years, Charles Roberts (Robbie) Grant of the home; daughters, Margaret (Meg) Grant Chase and husband, Timothy Chase of Hookerton and Rhonda Rene’ Grant of Kinston; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jenny) Margaret Chase of Hookerton, Brian Timothy Chase and fiance`, Troi Perkins of Raleigh and Robert Alexander Grant of Kinston. She is survived by her brother, William (Bill) Swindell Dudley, III and wife, Susan Dudley, of Climax, NC. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by two sisters, LaRue Dudley Cunningham of West Columbia, SC and Mary Dudley Cederdahl of La Mesa, CA.
Mrs. Grant enjoyed a career in nursing, first at Sampson County Memorial Hospital in Clinton, NC and then at Caswell Center in Kinston, NC until her retirement. She had a passion for genealogy that included lifetime memberships in Friends of Portsmouth Island and the Hyde County Historical Society. She was also a member of Greene County Family Researchers and the Heritage Genealogical Society. She was an active member in the Diabetes Support Group at Lenoir Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Grant was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Trinity United Methodist Women, and the church choir.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on May 1, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3768 Banks School Rd, Kinston, NC with Reverend Vito Bisogno officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Trinity UMC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Trinity UMC, Attn: Memorials, 2626 Paul’s Path Rd., Kinston, NC 28504. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com.
