April 16, 72,

Betty Spearman Best, 72, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Wayne UNC Healthcare.

Betty was born in Sampson County on December 4, 1945 to the late Harold Lee Spearman and Sallie Helen Matthis Spearman. She was a member of Saulston United Methodist Church. Betty loved flowers and was a certified floral designer. She shared her husband’s passion of traveling and enjoyed nature and the many breathe taking views we all take for granted. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She was a very caring and giving person, putting others ahead of her own needs.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Saulston United Methodist Church with Rev. Clay Parker and Rev. Debbie Matthis presiding. The family will greet friends Thursday following the service in the fellowship hall. A private interment for the family will be held in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Betty is survived by her husband of 53 years, Horace Best; daughters, Renee Bryan and husband Jonathan of Goldsboro and Shannon Best of Wilmington; and three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cooper and Drew Bryan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Spearman and Bobby Spearman.

Those wishing to commemorate Betty’s life may consider memorial gifts to the following: Saulston United Methodist Church, 4620 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, NC 27534 or to her beloved grandchildren’s college fund, the Best-Bryan Grandchildren College Fund, P.O. Box 10085, Goldsboro, NC 27532.
