Bennie Carroll “Nick” Gay, age 74, died Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Greene County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Harrison Gay and Annie Irene Rouse Gay and husband of the late Faye Francine Garris Gay.
At Nick’s request, there will be no formal services held however the family will have a Time of Gathering on Friday from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Nick is survived by two sons, Ronnie Carroll Gay and wife, Hope and Bennie Michael Gay and wife, Dawn; two step sons, Joel Bart Mercer and Brett Mercer and wife, Jennifer Cooke Mercer; a brother, Irvin “Buck” Gay and wife, Wendy; a sister, Barbara Allen Thigpen and husband, Johnny; and eleven grandchildren, Katie Melissa Gay, Taylor Caroline Gay, Austin Michael Gay, Jordan Lee Gay, Hannah Dawn Gay, Hailey Madison Mercer, Chelsea Mercer Moore, Jeremy Brett Mercer, Isabelle Isaacs Mercer, Garris Boyd Mercer and Callie Parks Mercer.
