Rachel Moye Singleton, 86, passed away early on Monday morning at her home surrounded by her family.
Rachel was born in Wayne County on February 28, 1931to the late Walter Street Moye and Maggie Holmes Moye. She was married to the late W. Harold Singleton. Rachel’s warmth, generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she encountered throughout her life. She was a long-time member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church. Above all, Rachel loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her precious grandchildren. She will be missed.
A service to celebrate Rachel’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Mitchell officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home. Interment will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.
Rachel is survived by her sons, David Harold Singleton and wife JoAnn, Sherwood Singleton and wife Sandy and Johnny Singleton; grandchildren, Dr. Kelly Singleton-Hood, Mia Freeman, Jennifer Singleton, Jason Singleton, Joshua Singleton and Hannah Singleton; great-grandchildren, Kathlyn F. Wohlrabe, Laina Freeman, Wesley Hood, Hayley Singleton, Jacob Singleton, Jensen Singleton and Heidi Singleton; step-great-grandchildren, Chase Hood, Jennifer Hood and Joshua Hood; and a great-great-grandchild, Brently. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Moye.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Steven Dixon Moye and Paul Ray Moye and sisters, Mary Ovaleen Alexander, Mildred Pate and Ola Mae Adams.
