Effie Anderson Mitchell, age 91, passed away Tuesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Wayne
County, she was the daughter of the late Rubert Joseph Anderson and Maggie Anderson and wife of the late Herbert Augustus Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by two children, Herbert Chester Mitchell and Janet Mitchell Whitfield, along with a sister, Kathleen Anderson Myers. She was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church.
A service to celebrate Effie’s life will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Emmaus Baptist Church Cemetery. Family members will greet friends Thursday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
She is survived by her children, James Ray Mitchell, Donald Gray Mitchell, Joseph Phil Mitchell, Bonnie M. Arnette, Judith M. Flores and Pamela M. Lancaster; and a brother, Jessie James Anderson.
