Betty Gene Potter Smith, 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Somerset Court in Goldsboro.
Mrs. Smith was born in Pitt County on November 25, 1924 to the late Raymond and Hattie Turner Potter. She was married for 64 years to the late Elwood Lee “Dick” Smith who preceded her in death on May 23, 2006. Mrs. Smith had retired from Century Uniform Company. She had been a faithful member of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church for 59 years.
A service to celebrate Betty Gene’s life will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 6 p.m. at Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church with Rev. Barry Teague officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday following the service at the church and at other times in her home. Private interment for the family will be on Friday, February 2, 2018 in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Karen Taylor of Goldsboro; her sons, Bobby D. Smith and wife, Beverly, Glenn R. Smith and wife, Donna and Kenneth E. Smith and wife Phyllis, all of Goldsboro; her sister, Marie Peele of Goldsboro; ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and four step-grandchildren.
