Betty Clay Mansfield

Betty Clay Mansfield, 88, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at WakeMed Cary. She was born in Fayette County, West Virginia on August 21, 1929 to the late Jerome Clay and Gladys B. Boblett.

A service to celebrate Betty’s life will be held by the graveside at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Hwy. 70 West, on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dennis Atwood officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.

Betty will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife, mother, grandmother, and a friend to all. So too will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul, and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others. Family was paramount to Betty, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, James Harold Guilliams and wife Mary of Mount Olive, David Jerome Guilliams and wife Barbara of Cary, Gary Lee Guilliams and wife Caryn of Warm Springs, VA, Tina Carol Gulliams Baxter and husband Ken of Cary, and Paula Gulliams Gardner of Apex; grandchildren, Hannah Lottie Guilliams, Kelly Short, John Short, Michael Short, Michael Toy, Samantha Toy, Clay Jackson Gulliams, Emily Lewis, Nathan Lewis, Morgan Raynor, Lance Gardner and Logan Gardner; sister, Doris Pishner and husband Paul; and brother, Jerome Clay.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mansfield and brother, Bobby Clay.
