November 24, 67,
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me that day; and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:6-8 Charley Guy Sasser, 67, went home to be with his Lord Friday morning after a long illness.
Guy was born in Wayne County on December 23, 1949 to the late Luby Guy Sasser and Lucy Epps Amerson. He had been employed as a truck driver for many years and had also been a faithful employee of Seymour Funeral Home. Guy will always be remembered for his love of a good practical joke whether done to him or by him as well as his true love of family, friends, life, and work.
A service to celebrate Guy’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Cotton officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodard Family Cemetery in Princeton. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 27, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. a Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
Guy is survived by his wife, Margaret Dale Martin Sasser; daughters, Judy S. Hoggard and husband Gary of Goldsboro and Jean Hall of Goldsboro; sister, Barbara Sullivan and husband Buddy of Pikeville; brothers, L.G. Sasser and wife Gail of Pikeville and Eugene Sasser and wife Cathy of Grantham; step-brother, Ray Amerson and wife Jackie of Lucama; five grandchildren, Casey Sasser, Wyatt Hoggard, Jennifer Hall, Stephanie Edwards and Matthew Evans; and five great-grandchildren, Carlie Jones, Jessie Jones, Waylon Pittman, Ansley Jones, and Kallie Edwards.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Michelle Sasser; great-grandson, Easton Pittman; and sister, Betty Jo Sasser.
We would like to give a very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for the love and care they provided for Guy during his final days. Simple words cannot express our gratitude. Also a thank you to the caregivers at Willow Creek who cared for Guy over these past years.
