Mabel Sauls Herring

June 8, GoldsboroMabel Sauls Herring passed away on Wednesday evening at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Mabel was born in Wayne County on March 21, 1924 to the late James and Mittie Carraway Sauls. Her warmth, generosity and kind spirit were well known and cherished by those she encountered throughout her life.  Mabel was a long-time member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church.  Family was paramount to Mabel, and she loved nothing more than her husband, her children, and grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bob Clark officiating.  Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mabel is survived by her husband of almost 74 years, Harold Herring; children, Ann Stocks, Lisa Herring, Kenneth Herring, and Glenn Herring, all of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Leigh Tillman, David Stocks, Jennifer Stocks, and Kathy Merritt; and nine great-grandchildren, Leiren Tillman, Matthew Tillman, Hunter Tillman, Travis Merritt, Brandon Merritt, Ra-Chel Stocks Alexander, Schoen Stocks, Annette Stocks, and Kristen Stocks.  She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Herring; four sisters, and three brothers.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be given in her memory to Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 10, Pikeville, NC 27863.
