Shirley Pendergraft Hope, 73, of Goldsboro, was called home on Friday, October 27, 2017 to the loving arms of Jesus Christ her Lord.
Shirley was born in Sampson County on December 5, 1943 to the late John Pendergraft and Mildred Martin Smith. She was married to the late Ernest A. Hope who preceded her in death on March 23, 2007. Shirley had worked with R.G. Barry Company in Goldsboro and later with Sam’s Club. She was a caring; loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. Shirley was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church. She also supported her husband in many of his business activities.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church followed by a service to celebrate Shirley’s life at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Christian Powell officiating. Interment will conclude the service in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Connie Ham and husband, the Rev. Ricky Ham and Christy Hope; son, Mark Allen Hope and wife Susie; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Hope.
