Norma Lee Dixon Morris

Norma Lee Dixon Morris, 83, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born on April 2, 1934 to the late Edgar and Agnes Johnson Dixon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at Casey Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Pollock and Reverend Sherman Dilley officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service in Princeton Cemetery.

Mrs. Morris lived in Boone Hill (Princeton) by the little river most of her life. She had three brothers and four sisters (Mable, Martha Ellen, Melvin, Oscar, Marie, Shirley and Edgar Ray). Norma gave her life to the Lord when she was 17 years of age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Church in Pikeville. She married when she was 21 to Leon Morris. They had three children (Sandy, Tim and Janie). They lived in Princeton most of their 57 years of marriage. Norma worked at the Gerald Plant in Smithfield for many years before retiring to be a full-time homemaker. She spent many days in the tobacco field helping her brother Oscar. she had lots of nieces and nephews who she cared for and loved deeply. Her children all married and had 8 grandchildren (Sheryl, Tanya, Sophy, Victoria, Travis, Emily, Jennie and Kyle). She had 10 great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. Her life always consisted of family. She loved everyone and they loved her. Norma had many bouts with cancer throughout her life. She enduring many surgeries and rallied from them all. The last surgery in August 2016 was not as successful and she never healed. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in February 2017. She fought on not knowing it had spread. She always kept a positive attitude and stayed strong.

God has healed her from her sickness and joined her in a joyous reunion with her husband and loved ones who had passed on. She will be missed more than words can express. Her memory will be in our hearts forever.

She is survived by a son, Leon Timothy Morris of Princeton; daughters, Sandy Holloman of Princeton and Beverly Long of Florida; 8 grandchildren, Sheryl, Tanya, Sophy, Victoria, Travis, Emily, Jennie and Kyle; 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm on Friday, October 6, 2017 at Casey Funeral Home Chapel.
