Judith Sing Murphy, 72, passed away early on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Wilson Medical Center surrounded by her family.
Judith was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on January 13, 1945 to the late Alton Thomas Sing and Ruth Vivian Beale Sing. She had worked for many years as a licensed customer service representative with several insurance companies. Judith will be remembered for her love of shopping, knitting, art, horses, and doting on her grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Judith’s life will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Paul United Methodist Church with Rev. James Harry officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service at the church.
Judith is survived by her husband of 34 years, Robert Murphy, Jr.; her loving brother, Alton Thomas Sing; children, Jennifer Holt and husband Warren of Goldsboro, Jeffrey Layden of Charleston, SC, Phaedra Medus and husband David of Goldsboro, Jennifer Federeau of Lansing, MI, and Heather Hammond and husband Steve of Charlotte, MI; eight grandchildren, Dylan Hammond, Kaitlynn Hammond, Charles Federeau, Jason Holt, Ryan Holt, Leila Medus, Cierra Daughtry, and Charlotte Holt; and three great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
