Virginia McKeel Person, 83, passed away early on Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born in Wayne County on October 9, 1933 to the late Fred and Susan Royal McKeel. She was married to the late Henry Harold Person. Virginia had been a member of Trinity Church of God of Prophecy.

Virginia was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will always be loved by her children and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. Virginia’s greatest joy was spending time with family and friends as well as cooking, sewing, and working with her flowers.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home followed by a service to celebrate Virginia’s life at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Ralph Parker officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery.

Virginia is survived by her sons, Harold Lee Person and wife Sharon of Pikeville, Willie Person and wife Brenda of Pikeville, and James Henry Person and wife Linda of Goldsboro; daughters, Dayle P. Barfield and husband Ray of Pikeville and Wanda Kay Westbrook and husband James of Goldsboro; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, JoAnn Corbett of Goldsboro and a special nephew, Johnny Pipkin.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Willie McKeel; sisters, Callie Pipkin and Margaret Martin; and three grandchildren.
